01Our story
Why we started, and why it still matters.
Farmers & Developers was incorporated in January 2015 as a company limited by shares, with a simple conviction: Northern Ghana's farming communities deserve advice and services that are designed for the north, not adapted from somewhere else.
The region's challenges are systemic. A single rainy season, degraded soils, limited access to quality inputs, weak links to markets, and gaps in water, energy and nutrition all hold rural households back, and they rarely have a single cause. Too often, well-intentioned programmes arrive with plans that do not fit the season or the community, and end when the funding does.
We set out to be different: a local company that combines farm-level technical knowledge with development expertise, so that every engagement leaves communities and clients stronger. Today we work with small businesses, corporate organisations, and local and international NGOs, and we are proud to be part of the Development Frontiers family of organisations.
